Judith Trowell (former President)
Judith Trowell is one of the most eminent child and adolescent psychiatrists in her field and was Trustee and President of The Care Leavers' Foundation from 2000 - 2016. The Foundation thanks Judith for your years of service and invaluable insights and wisdoms that have contiuted to the growth and development of the Foundation.

Richard Rollinson (Chair)
Richard is currently Director of the Planned Environment Trust and Independent Consultant in the fields of Child Care, Education and Mental Health across the voluntary, statutory and private sectors. He is a Fellow of the Dartington Social Policy Group at Warren House and of the Portuguese Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists and an Associate of Bath Consultancy and has a  long association with Therapeutic Communities, having been Director of the Mulberry Bush School from 1991 to 2001, and Director of Children and Young People at the Peper Harow Foundation from 2001 to 2005. Richard has also been a Senior Lecturer in Health and Social Work at Reading University and continues to teach on such professional training courses in the UK and overseas.
Elizabeth Lyden (Treasurer)
Liz is an experienced social worker and therapist having worked in child and adolescent services, community mental health and adult resettlement services in both the UK and Ireland in a career spanning nearly forty years. Her practice has brought her into contact with a huge range of clients in extreme need, ranging from children and adolescents to adults, their families and carers. Liz is founder and Director of Simplicitas, a service catering for people with complex needs including trauma, physical and learning disabilities, brain injury and mental health. She is a Reiki Master, current president of the Unified Register of Herbal Practitioners, director of the European Herbal and Traditional Medicines Practitioner Association, and a Trustee of the Global Natural Healthcare Trust, a charity offering herbal medicine in South Africa
Janet Rich (Secretary)
Janet has worked for over twenty years with children and adolescents exhibiting acute difficulties associated with emotional and psychological distress, mental health and cognitive difficulties. She has campaigned for improved awareness of issues affecting care leavers and is currently co-Director of Simplicitas, working with a range of adults with complex needs in the UK and Ireland. She is a founding Trustee of The Care Leavers’ Foundation and has contributed to working groups including the NICE /SCIE Project group on quality of life issues for children in and leaving care, the programme board for the National Centre for Excellence in Residential Child Care and the DfE Challenge and Support steering group for children’s residential care.
John Kemmis
Retired CEO of VOICE, John has had a long and distinguished career in Children’s Services spanning local authority and voluntary sectors. A passionate champion of children’s rights, advocacy and improving the delivery and commissioning of services for looked after children and care leavers, John’s legacy includes the Alliance for Child Centred Care, which he co-founded, and the influential Blueprint project which laid out underpinning  principles for the delivery of child centred services. John now divides his time between grandchildren, photography and his continued involvement in selected projects across the sector.
Nicky Roche CBE
Nicky spent her career as a civil servant. She started out in the Employment Department Group before spending four years at No 10 and then the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Department for Education and Employment and the Home Office. Nicky joined the Department for Culture, Media and Sport in 2004 as Director of Sport. She was Director of Operations in the Government Olympic Executive for the Olympics and Paralympics and during the Summer of 2012 she was the co-ordinator of the day-to day operations across all the delivery partners. She is on the Prime Minister’s high level advisory group to the Rio Games in 2016, a non-executive Director of British Showjumping and a trustee of the Care Leavers Foundation.  She was awarded the CBE in 2013.
Susanna Cheal OBE – Policy Advisor
Susanna was Chief Executive of The Who Cares? Trust from 1995 - 2007, a national charity working to improve public care. With an emphasis on researching the views of young people, developing stakeholder partnerships and parliamentary and media campaigning for new legislation, policy and practice across education, health and preparation for independent living, she has had a real influence in the way children’s care is delivered and continues to improve policy and services for vulnerable children and young people through independent consultancy projects.
Nicky Luff
has worked for Capstone Foster Care for 6 years. Previously to this she completed her Law degree in Bristol. Both Nicky’s parents are foster carers, so she  has plenty of  hands on experience of the issues care leavers face. Nicky assists the care leavers foundation with their administration as part of Capstone Foster Care’s charitable giving.
